When preparing any food, it may seem easier to simply buy an already processed product, but that can never be a better solution. Although I don’t oppose a person using canned goods, as at certain times it may be difficult to prepare them that home. However, try to avoid making it completely based on processed food, as in if you are preparing strawberry mousse then prepare the strawberry puree, that will be used in it, at home.

The key to any delicious dessert is based 30% on the amount of love you put into making it, 10% on the ingredients you use and 60% on measurements. Using the right measuring instrument enables you to not end up overusing any ingredient. For in dessert making, over-usage always leads to a degrading of taste. Unless of course, by some miracle, it ends up being a fortuitous mistake that makes your creation taste even better than it should. Well, let’s not bank on that, shall we?

7. Biscuits as alternative

Sometimes having something creamy may turn out to be monotonous for some of us, so to add that twist we choose to add a base.

Here’s a suggestion, some of us may choose to have ladyfinger biscuits as their base but they are not always readily available. In such cases, you can even choose to make your base out of rich tea biscuits by breaking it down into crumbs and adding a bit of sugar syrup and vanilla essence to it. If it is a chocolate dessert try adding cocoa powder to your biscuit crumb base, you may think it doesn’t sound that elegant but try it out and trust me, you will not regret it.

8. Don’t be a lazy bum:

When making whipped cream, we need to keep in mind that it needs to thicken and form cones when we lift our whisk from it. In order to attain this level of perfection, you have only one option and that is to keep whisking. It may seem like too much work, but the result, in the end will be all worth it.

9. Easy on the sugar:

So here’s the thing, desserts are supposed to be sweet, we all know that but that doesn’t mean you pour an entire bag of it. You can choose to go generous on the sugar but in my personal opinion, I think you will regret that decision later.

10. Gelatin:

You cannot choose to make mousse without gelatin, as that is like making a cake without milk. The gelatin contributes to adding thickness to the mousse.

Here’s a suggestion, buy gelatin if you are making a fruit flavoured mousse, as usually, chocolate mousse doesn’t require you to use gelatin in it.
